Chitosan is white or off-white amorphous powder or small flakes. Chitosan is positively charged polyelectrolyte in solution and has strong adsorbability. It is soluble in many kinds of organic acid and part of inorganic acid, such as acetic acid, lactic acid, low concentration hydrochloride acid. But it is not soluble in water or alkali solution.

Application:
1 Food additive:
As food thickener and stabilizer, chitosan can be used in production of condiments such as mayonnaise, peanut butter, sesame paste, etc. In vinegar and soy sauce production, chitosan can prevent precipitation.
Chitasan can be used as preservative for vegetables, meat, seafood, starch, etc.
2 Pharmaceutical use:
Promote blood coagulation and wound healing; as drug sustained release matrix; for artificial tissues and organs; improve immunity, prevent high blood pressure, regulate blood sugar, delay aging; as membrane materials, medical materials, etc.
3 Feed additive
Chitosan can inhibit and kill harmful bacterial and improve animal immunity
4 In agricultural
Chitosan is commonly used as a natural seed treatment and plant growth enhancer. Also it is an eco-friendly bio-pesticide substance, enhance the plant's inherent ability to resist fungal infections.
5 For industrial use:
Chitosan has good absorption characteristics of heavy metal ions and is suitable for treatment of organic wastewater, dye wastewater; it is also used in paper industry to improve the wet and dry strength and surface printability of paper.
