Application

With good viscidity and hygroscopicity,  PG is widely used in food, medicine and cosmetics as absorbent, antifreeze agent, lubricating agent and solvent. In food industry, PG reacts with fatty acids to form propylene glycol easter fatty acid, used as food emulsifier; PG is excellent solvent for flavors and colorants.

In pharmaceutical, PG is used as carrier of medicine and agent for particle medicine. In all kinds of ointments, PG is used as solvent, softener and excipient.

In cosmetics: PG has good inter solubility with all kinds of perfume, it is used as solvent and softener in cosmetics. Together with glycerin and sorbitol, PG is used as humectant in tooth paste and cosmetics.

In tobacco, propylene glycol is used as tobacco flavor, humectant and preservatives.
