Gallic acid is white to light yellow powder. It is an organic acid that can be found in Galla chinensis, lacquer tree, tea and other plants. It is soluble in water, alcohol and ether and has the properties of phenol and carboxylic acid. 1 Antioxidant. Gallic acid is the raw materials to compound gallate ester compounds, like methyl gallate, propyl gallate, glycerol trilaurate gallate, etc, which are excellent food antioxidants.
2 Antibacterial, anti-virus and antineoplastic. This makes gallic acid widely used in pharmaceutical field.
3 In cosmetic industry. Gallic acid is used as active ingredients of skin care products.
4 In industry, it is used to produce fuels, fireworks stabilizer, as coupler of blue and black ink.
